Beginning on 14th Feb, 2010 is the Chinese Year of the Tiger. This holds a special significance to the Isle of wight Zoo, as the tiger is our flagship species and we are keen to use this opportunity to enthuse people about these wonderful animals.
One of the ways we have been doing this is by turning the summer into a carnival spectacular. Visitors have been making masks onsite, our tiger model on the fort has been decorated and now carnival season has started the zoo is enthusiastically getting involved.
Star of the season has been our tiger puppet, made by local artist Hannah George. Having wowed audiences at Sandown carnival, we're hoping he visits the zoo over the Summer.
As well as craft activities we will be gearing up for International Tiger Day, on 26th September. Watch this space to find out what we'll be doing!
