Sponsored Walk for Global Tiger Patrol

Tracy Dove, the zoo's Education and Conservation Officer, is doing a 70 mile sponsored walk  around the Isle of Wight Coastal Path to raise money for the Zoo's tiger conservation project. She is being joined by her daughter Jenny, who introduced the family to the zoo when she came here for work experience eight years ago.

Between them they have a target of £1000, which will go to Global Tiger Patrol. GTP are the registered charity who administer the conservation project on our behalf.

If you'd like to help you can use the secure site JustGiving to sponsor Tracy or sponsor Jenny.

Tracy Says:

"I am walking the entire Isle of Wight coastal path (70 miles!) from 1st - 5th June 2011 to raise money for the tiger conservation project that is funded by the Isle of Wight Zoo via Global Tiger Patrol. The project works with local people to protect wild tigers in their natural habitat in Kudremukh National Park and Bhadra Tiger Reserve in the Western Ghats region of Karnataka, India.

There are fewer than 3000 tigers left in the wild. They are threatened by habitat destruction and by illegal hunting. The Western Ghat region is one of the few places where tiger numbers are currently fairly stable. The Isle of Wight Zoo is proud to be involved in this success.

The zoo needs to raise several thousand pounds for this project and this walk is one of several fundraising events taking place over the next few weeks. Please help by sponsoring me on this walk.
