Primates
The Isle of Wight Zoo is dedicated to the preservation of animal species and the education of our visitors. Although we are best known for our collection of big cats we are also home to a large collection of primates. Lemurland is home to four species of the primitive Madagascan lemurs. These vulnerable animals are the focus of two of our conservation campaigns. We also maintain five species of Old & New World monkeys in non-breeding colonies. These include species which are not currently threatened by human activities but are often victims of the continuing pet trade in the UK.
