Volunteering at the Zoo

You don't have to support the zoo with money - why not give your time and become a volunteer instead?

  • Are you over 18 years old?
  • Do you have an interest in conservation, wildlife and the environment?
  • Do you have time to spare on a regular basis?
  • Are you keen to volunteer as part of a team?
  • Are you eager to meet new people, in possession of a lively mind and flexible?
If the answer is 'yes', then why not join our volunteer programme at the Isle of Wight Zoo? Volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas:

  • Greeting visitors and giving information
  • Horticulture
  • Children's activities and special events
  • Fundraising
  • Market research
Although volunteers do not work directly with the animals, all of the activities they are involved with contribute directly to the zoo and its conservation projects.
Volunteers who successfully complete a probationary period will be issued with a uniform and will be offered additional benefits such as:

  • Discounts in our Zootique Cafe and Shop
  • An entry pass to the zoo for unlimited visits whilst you are enrolled on our volunteer programme
  • Invitations to our social events
Successful applicants for our volunteer programme with the Isle of Wight Zoo may be required to have a Criminal Records Bureau check as a condition of employment.
